Luxury Swiss Watch CGI Animation
A cinematic exploded-view 3D product animation for a luxury Swiss-made watch, built for a website hero and digital launch. Modelled, shaded and rendered in Cinema 4D, Redshift and Substance Painter.
How was the luxury Swiss watch animation made?
A truly innovative Swiss-made watch demands a reveal that matches its elite engineering. The goal for this matte metal luxury timepiece was a bold, high-end 3D product animation designed specifically for a website hero section and digital product launch.
This was not a standard watch design. It featured a radically unique, knob-free structure where the hands are adjusted directly by touch, a complex three-layered watch face, and a seamless single-piece strap clamped directly to the back cover. The biggest challenge was making these unconventional, intricate mechanics instantly understandable to the viewer.
To solve this, I crafted a photorealistic 3D animation using Cinema 4D, Redshift and Substance Painter. I engineered a cinematic exploded view that visually unpacked the watch's internal layers, explaining its revolutionary design without a single word of text or voiceover. I finalised the compositing in After Effects so the wide-ratio CGI product video looked impeccably sharp.
The launch was a major success, driving a 15% higher social media response rate than typical campaigns.
How the animation was built

Exploded-view frames
Stills from the animation showing the watch's three-layer face, internal components and single-piece strap unpacked in a cinematic exploded view.
Worth more once you see inside
An exploded view shows the parts a finished watch hides, the layers, the tolerances, the reason it costs what it costs.
Complexity becomes a selling point the moment you can actually see it. If your product is more than its surface, say hello!
